Why we do this
We are tired of illegal and deceptive actors who undermine honest businesses and harm consumers. Platforms like Google and Yelp profit from and tolerate fake listings and manipulated reviews, which distort markets and prevent law‑abiding companies from competing fairly — so we investigate and publish findings to help restore a level playing field.
Our first research project
Deceptive practices among garage‑door companies in several large Washington State counties is our first target. We analyze corporate filings, L&I licenses and bonds, advertising footprints, review authenticity, payment methods, addresses, and complaint patterns to produce actionable dossiers for consumers and law enforcement.
The WA State Problem
64% of garage door companies in Washington State appear to be deceptive or fake.
71% of these potentially fraudulent companies do not have, or will not provide, a state license or L&I contractor number.
83% of the suspected companies with a WA State UBI business license were formed on or after 2019.
47 states, 4 Canadian provinces, and 2 Mexican companies are linked to these WA State garage door suspects.
